ethylene

The ethylene, C2H4_, is a gas without color, stink but a little bit of sweetness. Its molecular weight is 28.05, density 0.5674g/cm3 (20.4℃), freezing point-169.2℃, boiling point 103.7℃.  The gas is susceptible to get flammable with an explosive range between 2.7% and 36%.  It is hard to get dissolved in water but probably in the ethanol and ether.

The ethylene is a basic raw material of producing synthesized fiber , rubber and plastics.  It is also used to manufacture vinyl chloride, styrene, ethylene oxide, acetic acid, aldehyde, ethanol and explosives as well as a ripener for the vegetables and fruits.
