Isobutane, chemical formula as C4H10, also called 2-Methylpropane, R600A，mainly used in the production of isooctane with isobutylene through alkylation, as a gasoline octane number improver. Isobutylene and propylene can be produced by cracking. Alkylated gasoline can be prepared by alkylation with isobutylene and propylene. Methacrylic acid, acetone and methanol can be prepared.

The high purity C4H10, with an index of up to 99.9%, also be used as refrigerant and will play a much more important role in the refrigeration field to take the place of the freon.
